N49 Launches re-designed RINXToronto.com

RINX Real Entertainment Centre is a 150000 square foot entertainment complex. With meeting rooms, an ice rink, mini golf, bowling and more, RINX can accommodate parties of 12 to 2000 people. We had the pleasure of hosting our N49 Interactive Christmas party at RINX and we can all agree on one thing: this place is fun! That’s why we were excited to tackle a new site redesign as well as a 6 month SEO engagement to help RINX boost their online profile.

We had three main objectives with this redesign. First, we wanted to create more robust site architecture with additional CMS modules to provide increased control over site content. Second, we wanted to bolster this improved architecture with a full suite of SEO solutions. Improved title tags, meta descriptions and ongoing keyword research are three examples of this engagement. Last but not least, our team of talented designers wanted to bring a fresh look to the site. They achieved this with N49’s trademark clean lines and fresh, contemporary look.

N49 Interactive Inc. launches redesigned Bedsplus.ca!

When Adjustable Beds Plus approached N49 looking to modernize their website, we were excited to begin work. The finished product is a contemporary rebuild using modern best practices. It’s a slick and functional website that we’re proud to welcome to the family!


Beds Plus wanted a more contemporary, clean looking site optimized for the modern viewing experience. We accomplished this by widening the page and increasing the font size and colour contrast to create a more visually accessible aesthetic.

They also wanted to replace flash elements with more SEO friendly site structure that would provide control over their content. We accomplished this by creating two custom content management modules: a specials manager and product catalogue.

With this redesign, Adjustable Beds Plus have a competitive advantage over their competition. As the industry evolves so too will their site. With easy to use, intuitive content management systems, they have the power to adapt as quickly as their customers will. We truly enjoyed working on this project and wish them the best of luck in the future!

N49 Donates over $300 to three amazing Canadian charties!

In the spirit of Christmas, N49 has decided to make donations to three amazing Canadian charities this afternoon! As part of our Donation Dollars program, N49 Interactive donates a portion of our revenue to Canadian charities. For every member review we donate one dollar to the charity selected by the user.

On behalf of our N49 Reviewers we are sending a cheque to Easter Seals Canada, Bridges of Hope International and the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

How do donation dollars work?

N49 is proud to partner with over 20 Canadian Charities. For each member review we donate one dollar to a charity selected by that user, up to a maximum of $5000.00. N49 users are doing their part by helping local businesses get feedback, helping consumers find great services, and helping charitable organizations in our communities.

When you think of renovating your home, drywall might not be the first thing that comes to mind. But drywall is an integral part of any home construction. With 20 years of collective experience, Westfield Drywall wants to revolutionize the way that we look at this product. It’s not simply another part of the build. Drywall creates the homes we live in and quite literally shapes our living experience. It’s with this philosophy that we set forth to create a beautiful custom website.

We worked with Westfield to create a design that showcases the potential of modern drywall construction. The result is a bright, simple and clean website. The home page image, a juxtaposition of raw, unfinished drywall to a sleek, modern interior, defines the character of the company.

We built a project manager to help Westfield document and display their work. The project manager offers complete administrative control over details of their most recent renovations, including photographs. This is a great way to demonstrate the diversity of their work and the potential of cutting edge drywall construction.

We also incorporated their N49.ca reviews directly into their new site. This automatically generates SEO-friendly content that both converts potential clients and boost search engine ranking. With these new features, Westfield Drywall is positioned strongly for future growth and influence in the renovations and construction industry. Welcome to the N49 family!

N49 Interactive launches www.muskokateak.com

N49 Interactive is happy to announce the launch of www.muskokateak.com !

When Muskoka Teak approached N49 their website was outdated and did not provide the functionality they needed. They wanted a site that could manage a growing catalogue and present a more modern, professional aesthetic to their clients. To help them freshen up their online image, we designed a website from the ground up and completed a local SEO package.

Muskoka Teak wanted to capture the rugged beauty of the Muskoka Lakes region that surrounds their facility. The design is image centric, leveraging beautiful and iconic photographs of Northern Ontario in the layout. The use of blue, green, brown and beige creates a clean but outdoorsy feel that shouts “Muskoka”.   The home page images are also fully customizable from the back end, a feature that will keep content fresh and unique.

A major issue with their old site was that they couldn’t display their entire inventory. To help them do this we created custom content management systems. We built a Catalogue Manager that allows them to add, remove, organize and maintain their entire product catalogue in one space. The site also features a wishlist, allowing clients to highlight their favourite pieces for retrieval at a later date. When a user selects an item to be stored in the wishlist, an orange arrow appears in the top right hand corner of the item to remind them as they continue to browse through the product catalogue. They can even print or email their wishlist to friends and family!

Muskoka Teak also participated in a local SEO engagement that will provide valuable inbound links and visibility throughout the local search sphere. We have gone the extra step to create an attractive and functional set of social media tools for them to exploit into the future.

Today I want to address some common concerns that small businesses have about social media.

  1. Do I really need it?

Yes, you do! People are talking about your business whether you like it or not.  Actively engaging your customers and managing your reviews allows you to get ahead of the game and control the online conversation. Companies that take a proactive role in controlling this conversation can count on growth in the future.

  1. Does it work for me?

Whether you own a decking company or fine dining establishment, your online reputation plays a huge role in the consumer decision making process. At the heart of this lies your ability to manage reviews. With the advent of smart phones, reviewing a business is easier and more impulsive than ever before. As a business owner, you cannot afford to ignore this trend.

  1. I don’t want negative reviews

No one does! However, at N49 we treat negative review as a fantastic opportunity to right a wrong. The reality is that no company is perfect. Furthermore, a company with all great reviews just doesn’t look legitimate. How social media can benefit your small business

Social media is a gift to small business. Why? Because it takes the advantage away from huge corporations and puts it into the hands of the fleet footed, agile and thrifty business owner. Today I want to demonstrate why social media is a great tool for any business no matter what the industry or budget limitations.

Google Has Overhauled Local Search – What Every Business Should Know

Google has recently launched a new kind of local search.  Previously when you indicated a location in your search (i.e. Toronto), Google results would display 7 results with a map in the centre with organic results listed below. 

Now when you search for local results Google will display blended local and organic results.  Google says, “Place Search, a new kind of local search result that organizes the world’s information around places” There are a few key features of the new display: 

  1. Results with a red pin indicating the business on the map (now on the right pane) 
  2. Contact details such as photo thumbnail, phone number, address
  3. Links to reviews, segmented by online review sites
  4. Star rating and total number of reviews
  5. Link to Google places page

 

Google says results are now “grouped easily to digest and compare” You can see from the new places search that consumer ratings and number of reviews are easily identifiable on the right– highlighting the ever increasing importance of consumer reviews and reputation management. 

So the real question is; how is this shift in search results important to your local business?  Your Google places page can help you rank in searches.  The places page allows you to add pertinent information about your business such as address, telephone number, email, website, business descriptions, hours of operation, photos, video, reviews and more.  The more enhanced the content is in your places page; the higher your business will rank in the places search.  Local businesses that have not claimed and optimized their places pages be at a big disadvantage in places search.  Your local business can easily take advantage of this opportunity.
